Guest Speakers at Accessify UK launch event

Accessify UK hosted their launch event on Monday 14th October.

It was proof positive of how many organisations and individuals across Surrey, want to drive and make change, alone or together.

Joining guest speakers invited to share their experiences, Hina Ashraf from Surrey Minority Ethnic Forum Ltd Katy Hubbard from Surrey Coalition of Disabled People Lucy Coney Jenni Schofield Helen Guest Matthew Leadbeater and Elizabeth Wheeler from Pro-Active Community presented their current campaigns.

A truly engaging event providing an ideal networking opportunity to share contacts, and most importantly from our perspective, raised awareness of the bias, challenges, necessity for change and ongoing inequity faced by people with disabilities.

Hearing Abi Chapman share her very open story brought the event to its close, but reminded us all how sharing real stories with the right people, is how we make real change.

Members all look forward to watching what comes from this work, research and the accessibility audits Accessify UK will lead on, Pro-Active Community members have already said how they want to join with whatever they can to bring experts with lived experience to drive decision making and ultimately necessary change.
