Ready, Steady, Cook!!

Yesterday was an incredible day as we hosted out first Ready Steady Cook event in partnership with Include.org and Surrey Choices.

The kitchen was buzzing with excitement as red apples and green pears went head to head in a cooking challenge, all to promote awareness around healthy eating and making good ingredient choices.

Huge thanks to ‘Loveworks’ - a Reigate based Charity , for their donations of food, which helped us create delicious dishes, and of course to Voluntary Action Reigate and Banstead for their original grant.

A special thank you to the Mayor of Reigate and Banstead Councilor Eddy Humphreys, for joining the day and showing genuine interest in our event.

The day was a huge success with the red apples being ‘pipped’ at the post by the green pears for a win.

Let’s continue cooking up positivity and inclusivity together!!

🎉The outcomes of this project have been so positive in every way.

Working with Eli Karlicka-Cook, Kate Curtis, Alix Lewer, Diego Acosta and all the amazing members of all three partners in this, has enabled a strong relationship to gain even more strength.

🍐One cook shared - ‘I’ve not worked in a team to cook before, it was good for me to learn tips’

🌶️Another said she ‘now knows how to use all the red pepper so no waste!’

🍎‘I didn’t know the low fat would taste so good’

‘Are we doing this again-please?!’

👏🏼Congratulations must also go to all the member presenters, Leanne, Emma Jane and Matthew, and to those from Active Prospects Helen Guest, Sophia Rapley and Joel Hartfield for all the EASI Cooking resources support, we could not have made the event run so smoothly without all team members helping.

🥄Members would like to acknowledge Penny Sims from Include.org for the bespoke ‘wooden spoons’ and Beth for creating the voting paddles, invitation and poster.
